    The situation

    A distributor’s pick accuracy depended on two long-serving staff who knew where everything was. New starters took months to become productive, and holidays were visibly painful.

    What changed

    Directed picking on scanners made location knowledge unnecessary. New pickers reach full productivity in days, and accuracy no longer varies with who is on shift.

    The situation

    Fast-moving lines were spread across the building because that was where space existed when they were introduced. Pickers were walking miles a day for no reason anybody had chosen.

    What changed

    Movement analysis drove a re-slot by velocity, and put-away rules now keep it that way. Walking distance dropped substantially without moving a single rack.

    Despatch keyed addresses into three separate carrier websites, printed labels, then emailed tracking numbers manually. Two people were effectively employed retyping addresses.

  • If you have fewer than a few thousand picks a week and a small building, stock control with scanning is usually enough. Directed workflows earn their keep when the building is large, the team changes often, or accuracy is contractually important.

  • Yes. Existing location labels can be imported, and where they are inconsistent we would rather relabel during implementation than build permanent workarounds around a numbering scheme nobody understands.

  • The main UK parcel and pallet networks, plus international integrators. Where a carrier has an API we integrate directly; where they do not, we produce their manifest format. New carriers are a configuration exercise, not a project.

  • Third-party and customer-owned stock are held and reported separately from your own. Bonded and duty-suspended stock is supported where the customs regime requires it to be tracked distinctly.

  • Container receipts can be booked against the purchase order with landed costs - freight, duty and clearance - apportioned across the lines, so item cost reflects what the goods really cost to get here.
